Our History

St. Joseph's School in Pleasant Point, New Zealand, was built on a strong foundation of Catholic faith and community dedication. Our story began on January 29, 1928, when our school was officially opened and blessed. It was a significant moment for the community, which came together to build a place for faith-based education.

The Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart played a pivotal role in the school's early years, guiding our students with the values of their founder, St. Mary MacKillop. She believed that education could transform lives and that every child, regardless of their background, deserved the opportunity to learn. Her values of faith, compassion, perseverance, and service became the guiding principles of our school.

Today, we continue to honour this rich legacy. St. Joseph's remains a cherished part of the Pleasant Point community, committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment.
